Having been disowned by his family when he was only 19 years old, Amrit Kohli's album Crucify Me captures the heartbreak and angst that developed in the aftermath of that tragedy. With his flagship song, Crucify Me, leading the charge on this profound album, Amrit Kohli has set out to reach new heights with this one. Pictured on the front of the album is an image of Amrit Kohli on a crucifix. Some have called the image sacrilegious. Still others believe it is narcissistic. Yet, the image stands for itself, and it is neither sacrilegious nor narcissistic. The entire queer community is represented by this image. We are "crucified" in American culture. That, and Amrit Kohli believes that Jesus is gay. Like an actual homosexual. So, what better image to fly on this album about persecution and unrequited love, about traveling the world and seeking solace in America, then the image of a crucifixion? The queer community is on trial all over the world; and it's always been a trial for our lives. We are always fighting for our right to exist. Crucify Me is Amrit Kohli's response to the crimes against humanity that are committed against Queer people every single day.
